AmeriGlide Stair Lifts come in two distinctly different versions - the Ultra series of rack and pinion stair lifts and the AmeriGlide AC, DC, and HD cable driven stair lifts.
The AmeriGlide Ultra series (which includes the Ultra Standard, Ultra Deluxe, Ultra Supreme, Ultra Premier, and Ultra Heavy Duty Stair Lifts) are battery powered rack and pinion stair lifts. Rack and pinion means that there is a gear under the seat that climbs up and down a rack screwed down to the track. Rack and pinion stair lifts offer a smooth start and stop.
The AmeriGlide AC Powered Stair Lift, the AmeriGlide DC Powered Stair Lift and the AmeriGlide HD Stair Lift are cable driven stair lifts, meaning you are raised and lowered by a 4200 lb. rated steel elevator cable. The only difference between the AmeriGlide AC and AmeriGlide DC is the AmeriGlide AC is operated solely by the power that comes out of the outlet and the AmeriGlide DC is a battery powered stair lift. The AmeriGlide HD Stair Lift is made for a person that weighs more than 350 lbs. The AmeriGlide AC, DC, and HD Stair Lifts do not use any circuit boards.
